Prayers for our community and those in need

Loving God, You are always more ready to hear than we are to pray and give more than either we desire or deserve. We bring these prayers confident of the justice of Your answers.

We pray for those in our Church family who are experiencing ill health, anxiety, problems at school or work, or difficult family situations - we ask that they know your love, comfort and strength, and that we their neighbours will know how to be the body of Christ for them.

We pray for all children and young people sitting tests and exams in the coming weeks, especially those who are part of our Church family - we ask that they be able to prepare well and be calm when in the exam room, and that they find time for relaxation; be with their teachers as they supervise and mark; and with their parents and grandparents as they support them and maintain a calm home when they too are anxious for those they love.

We pray for the work of Christian Aid and all who will raise money to support its relief and development work in the coming week – Holy God, in your Kingdom the strong need the weak, the rich are transformed by the poor, the fortunate are welcomed by the homeless.  Your Kingdom is built by those who expect their God to come.  Amen.

Jesus, at my awakening breathe new life into me.  Jesus, in my growth protect and guide me.  Jesus, in my maturing grant me wisdom and peace.  Jesus, in my decline offer comfort and hope.  Jesus, in my passing carry me home to eternal rest.  Amen.

We pray for Your guidance when we think about the use of our gifts of time, energy and money; help us to see how these precious resources shared by our Church family can be used to fulfil our vision of a Church caring for each other and our neighbours, and sharing the Good News.

We pray for the Church in Cuba and Haiti, for the Darlington District, for the Milton Keynes Circuit, and for those who make and serve refreshments after worship each Sunday.

Help us to face the future with courage and assurance, knowing that nothing can ever part us from Your love.  Lord Jesus we offer these prayers in Your name.  AMEN
