Monday Small Group - meets every fortnight in the upper room - contact Margery Hodson for information.

 


 

Tuesday evening small group - meeting at the homes of members each week at 8.00pm - speak to Miriam Pryke for more information – all very welcome

 


 

Wednesday Fellowship - meets each week, at 2.30pm in the Wesley Hall - all welcome.

Sir Aubrey Ward care home - we lead worship for the residents and staff on the last Thursday of each month - the next is on Thursday 30th January at 11.00am - all are very welcome to come and sing.

 


 

Used Stamps - please remember to save stamps and put them in the box on the shelves in the Wesley Hall - they are sent to the Leprosy Mission who welcome them as part of their fundraising.

 


 

Joy Morrissey MP - for the local constituency will be holding her surgery on the third Friday of each month in the Denton Room from 1.30pm to 4.30pm starting in January - for more information joy.morrisey.mp@parliament.uk.

 


 

Handbells for Children - As a guide, age range 5yrs to 11yrs, but this is flexible. All Welcome.

We plan to have further sessions in January 2020.

Whitechapel Methodist Mission - helping the homeless in the East End of London - thank you to everyone who supported our collection and wrapped chocolate bars - the staff at the Mission are very grateful for our support at this time of year - Valerie Cameron

 


 

Volunteers needed to help our Church - all sorts of jobs around the Church and its activities need your practical support - in particular we are looking for people who have an hour to spare once a month to be No 2 steward - anyone over 16yrs is eligible - simple tasks to assist the main steward - please contact Paddy Gallaugher.

Week of prayer for Christian unity - 18th to 25th January

 

Celebration & AGM - a united service to launch the week will take place at Christchurch URC on Sunday 19 January at 6.00pm - this service will include the annual general meeting of CTM.

 

Prayers - these will be held at our Church at 12.30pm  for 30 minutes on Monday 20th, Wednesday  22nd,  Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th.

 

Unity Supper at St Peter's School in Prospect Road  on Tuesday 21st January at 7.15pm for 7.30pm - tickets available from Sue Gallaugher or Alison Rae

 


 

Living Nativity with animals and stalls on the church forecourt - thanks to everyone who supported our witness to the message of Christmas on Thursday evening.

 


 

Please remember One Can - contributions to the work of the food bank are always welcome.

 


 

Christmas Collections -

Additional sales have raised an extra £454 for the Fair - a total of £3,876,

A total collection and Gift Aid for Action for Children of £349,

A total collection for Wycombe Homeless Connection of £584,

The Christmas card box raised £154 for the outreach giving fund.

Action for Children buffet lunch - Saturday 2nd November - Thank you to everyone who supported our fundraising event - we raised £385 + £32 gift aid.

 


 

Prayers for the persecuted Church - a small group of Christians in Marlow meets on the second Monday of each month to pray for sisters and brothers suffering injustice and persecution - stories of the remarkable acts of faith in the face of brutal regimes are humbling and the remarkable answers to prayer are inspiring but get overlooked by our media - if you care about our world and need encouragement you are welcome to join the group - contact details in the church notices.

 


 

Prayer Handbook 2019/20 - 'Responding to the Gospel' - copies are available free-of-charge from the table in the Welcome Area - please speak to Neil Manthorpe if you have not had a copy in the past and would like one.

 


 

 There was a plant sale during the Saturday coffee morning on 28th September between 10.00am and 12noon - organised by Marilyn Smith - proceeds were for our Church funds.

 


 

Sponsored Cycle Ride, or Walk, for the Historic Churches of Bucks. This took place on Sat. Sept. 14th, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and our Church was open during this time. Our Church has benefitted from this charity in the past. Thank you to all who walked, or cycled, to some of our local Churches, to raise money.

 


 

Our series on the letter to the Colossians happened over the four Sundays in August.

Cooinda Friendship Centre - which is a Churches Together in Marlow project celebrated it's 20th birthday on Friday 26th July 2019. If you are able to volunteer as a helper from time to time, please let us know - your help will be very welcome.

 


 

Stokenchurch Methodist Church - held their final service in the Chapel on Sunday 21st July 2019 and this was also be a farewell service for Rev Singa Vunipola. The Stokenchurch members are now part of our Church family and continue their links with the parish Church in Stokenchurch

 


 

Love Marlow - Building Community Together - thank you to everyone who got involved in the events and activities that took place this year – thank you for helping to share the Good News

 


 

Strawberry cream teas for Home Farm Trust (lifelong homes for those with special needs) - thank you to everyone who helped and supported the garden party last weekend - we raised £1,304 for Home Farm Trust - Sue Harris and Margery Hodson.

 


 

Action for Children - summer buffet lunch thank you to everyone who helped and supported our fundraising activity - we raised £373 - Marilyn Smith

Christian Aid sponsored walk - a big thank you from the 21 Marlow walkers to their sponsors – we raised a total of £1,812 - Sue Gallaugher

 


 

Leprosy Mission - Chris Stratta, who led our wonderful service on 24th March, has written to thank our 'truly special people' for the donation of £896 which has been doubled by matched funding from the Government - £1.3m was raised in total which makes an incredible £2.6m with matching aid - Margery, Nigel, Sue and Paddy are visiting Nepal at the end of October and will visit the Anadaban Hospital - would anyone like to join us for this trip?

 


 

Poverty and Universal Credit - Rachel Lampard, the leader of the Joint Public Issues Team, and a former Vice-President of Conference spoke on the subject of poverty at Wesley Methodist Church (Priory Rd, High Wycombe) on Wednesday 27th March at 7.30pm - this was part of a Churches Together in Wycombe series for Lent

Messy Church - urgent appeal - Churches Together in Marlow have run a monthly Messy Church on a Saturday afternoon, but it has now stopped due to a staffing shortage - can you get involved and spare a couple of hours each month?  Speak to Paddy Gallaugher

 


 

Collecting boxes - March 2019 status

The World Mission boxes have raised £305 so far this year and

The Action for Children boxes have raised £432

- if you would like a box please speak to Marguerite Donkin (WM) or Stella Warne (AfC) - thank you for your donations to these important funds for work to help others in our world.

Do you enjoy baking? - Sue Gallaugher would love to have a home-made cake to sell in slices on the cake stall at the Saturday Coffee Morning each week - speak to Sue if you are able to help.

 


 

 Pancake Day - thank you to everyone who worked hard to make the lunch happen and to all who supported the event - more than £500 was raised in support of Marlow Lighthouse for children and young people.
